Since 1986, the Perth Mint has produced this $15 face value coin with different reverse designs, originally a traditional gold nugget, with a Kangaroo design in the early 90's. Collaborating with the United States Mint, we have formed a groundbreaking partnership in which Gordon Summers and Joseph Menna, the Chief Engravers of each of these mints, have collaborated on a coin design together for the first time. The masterfully crafted design unites the national symbols of Britannia and Liberty, a physical representation of the ‘special relationship’ – a phrase coined by Sir Winston Churchill in 1946 – shared between the United Kingdom and the United States.
