The South African Gold Krugerrand is the original gold bullion coin. The first to contain one troy ounce of gold, its production started in 1967. It is the grandfather of all present bullion coins; until the Eagle, Maple, Kangaroo, and Philharmonic were created, the Krugerrand had the dominant market share. The Krugerrand features a Springbok antelope on the reverse, as well as gold weight. On the obverse is Paul Kruger, past president of South Africa. The Krugerrand, like the Eagle, weighs more than one ounce as it is alloyed with copper. Its composition is 91.67% gold. Dates on these coins will be of our choosing and may or may not vary, determined by stock on hand.
