Minted from 1921 to 1947 these stunning coins were Mexico's largest circulating gold coins struck. Commonly called a Centenario as they were initially struck to commemorate Mexico's 100 years of independence from Spain. The obverse displays Winged Liberty, an image that is still iconic to Mexico's modern Libertad coinage; the reverse focuses on the Mexico national coat of arms, an eagle on perched on a cactus holding a snake in its beak.
