First issued in 1995 and now in its third round, the long-running Australian Lunar Coin Series celebrates the animals of the ancient Chinese lunar zodiac calendar with a sequence of annual designs portraying the mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.

Those born under the sign of the Chinese lunar mouse in 2020, 2008, 1996, 1984, 1972, and every 12th preceding year, are said to be smart, resourceful, adaptable, and kind.
